The Unknowable- Part VIII Burning agony ground at Adeline's twisting shoulders. Consciousness, and awareness had returned and with it came a bitter sting in her back. She shuffled and turned to accommodate herself more properly, yet this only forced another spark of incorrigible pain to pulse through her shoulders. Dingy gray walls expanded into abysmal darkness only to fade to a ceiling of absolutely nothing; a starless sky impossibly far above, long out of reach. Despite the virtually unending height of the walls, the space between them was unfathomably cramped.
